Tyler Phillips Optioned To Triple-A
3 months agoThe Philadelphia Phillies optioned rookie right-hander Tyler Phillips to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday and selected the contract of right-hander Nick Nelson from Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. To make room on the 40-man roster, right-hander Michael Rucker was designated for assignment. The move comes after Phillips surrendered six earned runs on eight hits in just two-thirds of an inning on Tuesday in a start against the Toronto Blue Jays. It's been a tough go for Phillips in his first taste of the majors in 2024, as he now has a 6.87 ERA (5.58 FIP) and 1.42 WHIP while striking out 28 and walking seven in 36 2/3 innings over his eight appearances (seven starts). It's unclear who might take his spot in the starting rotation, but it could be either Taijuan Walker or Kolby Allard.
