Tyler Clippard To Be Shut Down For Six Weeks
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Tyler Clippard (shoulder) will be shut down for six weeks with a capsule sprain in his right shoulder, reports Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. Clippard exited Friday's game early after allowing seven runs on four hits, two walks and a hit by pitch as he failed to record an out in the appearance. He was projected to take on a late-inning role for the Diamondbacks, coming off a solid 2020 campaign in which he posted a 26.5 percent strikeout rate and 4.1 percent walk rate with a 2.77 ERA in 26 innings. It's unclear who will replace Clippard on the Opening Day roster right now, but there exists a possibility where this could open up playing time for prospect J.B. Bukauskas.
