Tyler Anderson, Mitch Keller To Start Against Cubs This Weekend
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitchers Tyler Anderson and Mitch Keller will be the Game 2 and Game 3 starters in the opening series against the Chicago Cubs, according to Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Anderson had mixed results this spring, with an 18:2 K:BB ratio on one hand, while allowing 10 runs on 22 hits in 18 innings of work on the other hand. Meanwhile, Keller struggled all spring as he posted an 11:8 K:BB ratio and allowed 15 earned runs on 23 hits in 11 1/3 innings. The matchup with Chicago makes Anderson an interesting streaming option in most formats, as the Cubs had one of the worst offenses in 2020 with the fourth-highest strikeout rate (25.7%), fourth-lowest average (.220) and seventh-worst slugging percentage (.387). Keller should not be considered an option for now until he can string together several solid outings in a row.
