Tyler Allgeier Listed As Top Back Entering Week 5
2 years agoAtlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier made his NFL debut in Week 2 after Damien Williams (ribs) suffered an injury in Week 1 and has been battling with Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) for the starting job in this offense since. The 22-year-old now appears in line to take over that role because of the injury suffered by the veteran in Sunday's game. He rushed the ball 10 times for 84 yards and had one reception for 20 yards after taking over. The team released their depth chart for Week 5, listing him as their No. 1 tailback. Caleb Huntley, who saw 10 carries of his own for 56 yards and a score, will also factor in. Atlanta's offense is not particularly potent, but they lean heavily on their rushing attack, which should offer plenty of volume for both players. Allgeier faces the Buccaneers' defense this week, dropping him to more of a flex option with upside given the difficult matchup.
