Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier made his NFL debut in Week 2 after Damien Williams (ribs) suffered an injury in Week 1 and has been battling with Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) for the starting job in this offense since. The 22-year-old now appears in line to take over that role because of the injury suffered by the veteran in Sunday's game. He rushed the ball 10 times for 84 yards and had one reception for 20 yards after taking over. The team released their depth chart for Week 5, listing him as their No. 1 tailback. Caleb Huntley, who saw 10 carries of his own for 56 yards and a score, will also factor in. Atlanta's offense is not particularly potent, but they lean heavily on their rushing attack, which should offer plenty of volume for both players. Allgeier faces the Buccaneers' defense this week, dropping him to more of a flex option with upside given the difficult matchup.--Josh Constantinou - RotoBaller

Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier was firmly in the back seat behind Bijan Robinson in the team's Week 17 loss to the Washington Commanders. The former fifth-round pick finished the game with three carries for 19 yards and was not involved in the passing game. The Falcons dropped to 8-8 but still have a chance to win the division as they go up against the Carolina Panthers in Week 18. Allgeier should be able to find some more running room against the league's worst run defense.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBaller

Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier garnered double-digit carries in back-to-back weeks for the first time all season after last week's 11-carry performance. Unfortunately for fantasy, the 11 carries came with just 22 scoreless yards of production, although he did manage to snag one pass for nine yards. With Michael Penix Jr. making only his second career start in Week 17 and the Commanders allowing the second-most fantasy points to RBs on the season, Allgeier looks primed for another double-digit effort, even if some comes simply from giving Bijan Robinson a breather. The 24-year-old does receive some goal-line work, but has just three TDs in 15 games, so without big yardage totals the BYU product figures to be nothing more than an RB4 or low-end Flex play with slight upside were he to find paydirt.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier logged 11 carries in Sunday's 34-7 win over the Giants as the offense leaned heavily on the run game in Michael Penix Jr.'s first start, however, the 24-year-old managed to gain just 22 scoreless yards (2.0 YPR) on those opportunities. Meanwhile, backfield mate Bijan Robinson was able to gain 94 yards on 22 attempts (4.3 YPR) and found paydirt twice. Allgeier added one catch for nine yards in the contest, but overall it was a bland performance so hopefully managers still alive in the fantasy playoffs were able to find other worthy substitutes if needed. The BYU product gets a juicy matchup versus the Commanders' rush defense that is one of the worst in the league in yielding fantasy production to running backs, but the third-year pro is likely no better than a low-end flex play in Week 17.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier has been the recipient of double-digit carries just four times all season and has yet to record those outings in back-to-back weeks. In Week 15, the 24-year-old carried the ball 12 times, so is he due for a return to single digits? With rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. under center on Sunday, the Falcons may need to rely on the run game more than usual. The team is favored by nine points in this game against the Giants, so they could be looking to kill the clock late as well, meaning more action for the running backs. New York has yielded the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing RBs, and the Falcons haven't been shy about giving goal line carries to Allgeier, so the 8:3 TD split for Bijan Robinson and Allgeier doesn't tell the whole story. Allgeier has received six carries inside the five while Robinson has received eight, so it's a near-even split. Nevertheless, fantasy managers still alive in the playoffs won't be using the BYU product as an RB1 or RB2, but one could make the case for an RB3/Flex play this week, albeit a risky one.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller
