Tyjae Spears Continues Solid Preseason Play
1 year agoTennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears had nine carries for 28 yards and caught two of three targets for 13 yards in Friday's preseason game against New England. Spears started and took three carries for three yards on the opening drive. The rookie then stayed on to play four drives with Malik Willis, Julius Chestnut, and Jacques Patrick came in. Due to his excellent preseason play, the 2023 third-round pick further cemented his status as the No. 2 back behind Derrick Henry heading into his NFL regular-season debut in Week 1 at New Orleans. Should Henry miss significant time due to injury, Spears would immediately step into his role as the bell-cow back in Tennessee. In the meantime, he's one of the more valuable handcuffs in the league.
