Ty Tice Throws Two Shutout Innings In Debut
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays pitcher Ty Tice threw two shutout innings in his MLB debut during a 7-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night. The undersized right-hander was up to 96 mph and recorded outs on three different offerings — fastball, slider, and curveball. Tice is a former 16th-round draft pick who was taken out of the University of Central Arkansas back in 2017. He's produced strong minor league numbers at every stop along the way and split the 2019 season between Double-A and Triple-A. He spent last season at the alternate training site and was added to the 40-man roster during the offseason to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He was promoted to the active roster on Friday after reliever Ryan Borucki experienced vaccine-related side effects.
