Ty Montgomery Gets Some Work Against Pittsburgh
6 years agoGreen Bay Packers running back Ty Montgomery got some light work in the second preseason game. He ran the ball four times for 10 yards. He added two receptions for 13 yards. Montgomery is primarily going to be used as a pass-catching running back. The former wide receiver has good size and strength but has not shown the durability necessary for a large workload for any position. However, he may get a big workload for the first two weeks. Presumed starting running back Jamaal Williams injured his ankle in the game. While he is expected to be fine, if he were to miss any time it would leave Montgomery as virtually the only running back on the roster for the first two weeks. Fellow running back Aaron Jones is suspended for the first two weeks. Montgomery has some value as a late round flyer, but he would be low-end RB1 for the first two weeks in Williams misses any time.
