1 year agoHeading into the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan, Ty Gibbs was 18 points behind Michael McDowell and the playoff cutline, but with an 11th-place finish for Gibbs and a 24th-place finish for McDowell, it is now Gibbs who is in the cat bird's seat with three races to go until the playoff field is set. Heading into the Indianapolis Road Course race next weekend, Gibbs has a three-point advantage over McDowell and the cutline, with Daniel Suarez being five points behind Gibbs. It's sure to be an exciting final three races of the regular season for Gibbs, who is looking to make the playoffs in his first full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series.--Jordan McAbee
