Ty France Pops First Big League Homer
6 years agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Ty France launched his first career homer Tuesday against the New York Mets. France’s fourth-inning shot was a two-run blast and he finished the evening 2-for-3 with a walk. France posted gaudy numbers in Triple-A prior to his call-up and has registered a .772 OPS and 35 percent strikeout rate in 34 plate appearances. The 24-year-old rookie isn’t a touted prospect but has been starting daily at the hot corner with infielder Manny Machado shifting to shortstop. It’s probable France will be sent back to the minors once shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (hamstring) returns from injury. Aside from being a DFS punt, he’s not a realistic fantasy option.
