Seattle Mariners first baseman Ty France (wrist) left Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Oakland Athletics early after a pitch hit him on his left wrist. However, the good news is the 28-year-old avoided a fracture, according to Corey Brock of The Athletic. France is experiencing "significant swelling," though, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day, as he may have to miss a game or two. The former 34th-round pick has seen a drop in production from 2022, slashing .261/.341/.380 with three bombs, 27 runs, 21 RBI, and one steal over 48 games. Those numbers still play well in most formats, so hopefully, he can return to action sooner rather than later.--Spencer Seguin

Minnesota Twins first baseman Ty France (foot) will start on the bench for Thursday's series finale in Baltimore against the Orioles. It's not a big surprise after France was forced to leave Wednesday's game early in the fifth inning with a left-foot contusion in the first game of a doubleheader. The 30-year-old was also held out of Game 2. It's not considered a serious injury, but France will miss his second straight game. Fantasy managers will want to check back to see if he's able to return for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. France hasn't homered since April 29 and has hit .227 (10-for-44) with three RBI, a steal and 10 strikeouts in 11 games so far in May. Kody Clemens is starting at first base on Thursday and is hitting eighth against Orioles right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano, who he has never faced in his career. France left the game after grounding out in the fifth inning and was replaced by Kody Clemens at first base. Before leaving, France went hitless in three at-bats in the eventual 6-3 victory. It's unclear how serious the 30-year-old veteran's injury is, but he'll almost certainly sit out the second game of the twin bill on Wednesday. There's also a good chance he won't be ready to return for Thursday's series finale with the O's. Heading into Wednesday's doubleheader, France was hitting .260/.325/.373 with a below-average .699 OPS, three homers and 21 RBI in 41 games. According to Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune, Twins first baseman Ty France is "going to play a lot" during the 2025 season. France signed a one-year deal with Minnesota earlier in February and could have a path to a starting role at first base. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor France's status during spring training, but it seems he is entering camp as the clear favorite for the starting job. Last season, France posted a career-worst .234/.305/.365 line, split between time with the Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds. He hit 13 home runs. He posted a modest 21.3 percent strikeout rate and a below-average 7.3 percent walk rate. If France were to see these struggles continue in camp, Jose Miranda and Edouard Julien could also be in the mix for starts at first base. The Minnesota Twins signed former Seattle Mariners All-Star infielder Ty France to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday, pending a physical. France, who had an .813 OPS in 2021 with Seattle, is an interesting addition to a first base picture in Minnesota that also includes Jose Miranda, Edouard Julien and Mickey Gasper. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter began the 2024 campaign with the M's but was eventually cut and latched on with the Cincinnati Reds to close out the year. He hit a combined .234/.305/.365 with a below-average .670 OPS, 13 home runs, 51 RBI and 46 runs scored in 140 games. He was a bit better with the Reds in 52 games, hitting .251 with five homers and 20 RBI. France has been in decline offensively since his All-Star campaign in 2022 with the M's and will probably only have a part-time role in Minnesota, at best.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
