5 months agoSan Jose Sharks center Ty Dellandrea (hand) has been activated from Injured Reserve and is poised to re-enter the lineup on Tuesday versus Columbus. The 24-year-old has missed four games with a hand injury. Dellandrea has been limited to one goal in nine appearances in a bottom-six role. He currently holds no fantasy value, but Dellandrea will be a useful addition to the Sharks lineup as a player who can win faceoffs on a consistent basis. This season, he has won 52.9 percent of his duels at the dot. With Macklin Celebrini (hip) also back in the lineup, San Jose has sent Daniil Gushchin and Ethan Cardwell down to the minors. --Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

5 months agoSan Jose Sharks center Ty Dellandrea (upper body) will not be available for Monday's contest against Utah. Per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now, Dellandrea is nursing an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day. Dellandrea has filled a bottom-six role in San Jose, averaging 12:33 of ice time. He's notched one goal in nine appearances while delivering 24 hits and winning 52.9 percent of his faceoffs. Givani Smith is expected to fill in for Dellandrea on Monday. So far this season, Smith has been limited to one appearance, logging 7:59 of action in an 8-3 loss to Winnipeg on Oct. 18. He produced a game-high four hits in the contest with one block. On the offensive end, Smith has picked up only 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in 156 career games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

10 months agoThe San Jose Sharks have acquired forward Ty Dellandrea in a trade with the Dallas Stars. The team gave up a 2025 fourth-round draft pick in the deal for the pending restricted free agent. Dellandrea, a 13th pick in the 2018 draft, heads to the West Coast after making 151 appearances with the Stars. He has registered 14 goals and 42 points in his NHL career. This term, Dellandrea saw action in only 42 regular-season contests, amassing nine points (two goals, seven assists). The 23-year-old has found it tough to make an impact in Texas, but he could get a bigger role on a rebuilding team.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 years agoDallas Stars forward Ty Dellandrea has re-signed with the team for one year after being a restricted free agent. The two sides agreed on a deal that's worth $900,000. The 22-year-old had his first full season in the NHL in 2022-23, registering nine goals and 28 points in 82 games, while delivering 125 hits. Stars general manager Jim Nill has called Dellandrea "a heart-and-soul type of player", and the former first-round pick appears to have a promising future in Dallas. However, with Matt Duchene joining the gang and Evgenii Dadonov re-upping with the team, Dellandrea looks to be stuck to a bottom-six role in 2022-23 with a healthy lineup.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 years agoDallas Stars forward Ty Dellandrea became an unlikely hero in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday, scoring twice in the third period to help Dallas extend the series against Vegas with a 4-2 victory. He was on target with two shots in the middle of the frame, scoring inside 1:27 of action. Prior to Saturday night, Dellandrea had lit the lamp just once in these playoffs and the three goals are his only points in 14 outings. The 22-year-old is only the fourth player in NHL history to record the first multi-goal game of his career in a game in which his team was facing elimination in the Conference Final/Semifinal.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
