Two Points From Sean Monahan Help Lead Flames to Victory
5 years agoCalgary Flames forward Sean Monahan picked up points on both of Calgary's first two goals Sunday night, registering a goal and an assist in the first period. It was the first multi-point night for Monahan of the month and only his second since the calendar turned to 2020. The hope in Calgary is that a game like this can thaw out Monahan's cold streak, as he has only one point in his previous five games. His current pace of 0.7 points per game would be the lowest of Monahan's career since his rookie season and is predictably accompanied by a career-low 12.7 percent shooting percentage. Those rates along with lower than average individual points percentage and PDO leave Monahan as a clear bounce-back candidate for next season, and possibly for the rest of this season if Calgary makes a splash at the trade deadline.
