Twins Acquire Austin Martin From Blue Jays
3 years agoUpdating a previous report, the Minnesota Twins have acquired shortstop/outfielder Austin Martin and starting pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for starting pitcher Jose Berrios, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB Network. Martin is the No. 2 prospect in the Blue Jays' system according to MLB Pipeline, while Woods-Richardson is the No. 4 prospect. Over 11 starts at Double-A this year, Woods-Richardson is 2-4 with a 5.76 ERA, 1.500 WHIP and 33.2 percent strikeout rate over 45 1/3 innings of work. Meanwhile Martin — the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 Draft — is slashing .281/.424/.383 with two home runs, nine steals, 16 RBI and 43 runs scored over 55 games in his first season of professional ball. Managers in dynasty formats will want to look at acquiring both of these prospects, as they should be making an impact in fantasy within the next couple years.
