Tucupita Marcano Traded To Pirates
3 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates acquired prospect infielder Tucupita Marcano as part of the trade sending second baseman/outfielder Adam Frazier to the San Diego Padres. Marcano is the lynchpin of a deal that also includes minor league outfielder Jack Suwinski and pitcher Michell Milano. The 21-year-old will slot in as the Pirates No. 7 prospect and is expected to report to Triple-A Indianapolis. Marcano projects as a versatile defender with a plus-hit tool, but registered just a .484 OPS in the majors this season in 50 plate appearances. Since being sent to Triple-A El Paso, Marcano has carried an .811 OPS with six homers in 199 plate appearances. As a light-hitting prospect with 30-grade power, he's just a middling fantasy option in dynasty formats until he taps into some slugging capabilities.
