Tucupita Marcano is facing a potential lifetime ban from the game for betting on baseball, according to sources. Major League Baseball continues to investigate Marcano, but they could hand down their penalty against him soon. Along with facing a potential lifetime ban, the 24-year-old has been on the injured list all year as he recovers from a torn ACL he suffered last year while playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Venezuelan infielder made his major-league debut in 2021 with the Padres and has appeared in the majors each of the last two years as well, batting just .217/.269/.320 with five home runs, 34 RBI, seven stolen bases and 41 runs scored in 149 games as a depth piece for the Padres and Pirates.

Drew Carlton off their 40-man roster. Marcano will return to the Padres organization after spending his rookie MLB campaign with the Friars in 2021. He will not be ready for the start of the 2024 season after undergoing surgery to fix a torn ACL in his right knee, though. The 24-year-old hit .233/.276/.356 with a career-high three home runs, 12 doubles, two triples, 18 RBI, five stolen bases and 16 runs scored in his 75 games with Pittsburgh in 2023. Marcano is off the fantasy radar and is merely organizational position-player depth for SD going into next year.

Tucupita Marcano (knee) was forced to exit early during Monday's game due to a right knee injury. He underwent further testing and the outcome is not favorable for the 23-year-old infielder. Marcano has suffered a significant right knee injury that is likely going to result in surgery. It sounds like there is a good chance that Marcano is done for the season. Right now, he's slashing .233/.276/.356 with three home runs and 18 RBI with five steals in 53 games. Fantasy managers who are rostering him in redraft formats can start looking for a replacement.

Tucupita Marcano left Monday's 8-4 win over the San Diego Padres early after suffering a "ligamentous injury" in his right knee, according to Jason Mackey of the Post-Gazette. He'll undergo further testing, and then there should be a better idea of the severity of the ailment. If Marcano does need time on the injured list, fantasy managers won't miss his production, as he's slashing .233/.276/.356 with three home runs, 16 runs, 18 RBI, and five steals over 75 games. The 23-year-old continues to be irrelevant in all formats.
