Marcano has split the 2022 season between Double-A and the majors. He's appeared in 19 games with the Pirates this year and has slashed .262/.318/.410 with two home runs, five RBI and nine runs. He has a chance to push Hoy Park for the everyday second baseman role on the team. Otherwise, he may end up as a utility man.

Tucupita Marcano (knee) off waivers on Thursday from the Pittsburgh Pirates. In a corresponding move, the Padres outrighted catcher Chandler Seagle and right-hander Drew Carlton off their 40-man roster. Marcano will return to the Padres organization after spending his rookie MLB campaign with the Friars in 2021. He will not be ready for the start of the 2024 season after undergoing surgery to fix a torn ACL in his right knee, though. The 24-year-old hit .233/.276/.356 with a career-high three home runs, 12 doubles, two triples, 18 RBI, five stolen bases and 16 runs scored in his 75 games with Pittsburgh in 2023. Tucupita Marcano (knee) was forced to exit early during Monday's game due to a right knee injury. He underwent further testing and the outcome is not favorable for the 23-year-old infielder. Marcano has suffered a significant right knee injury that is likely going to result in surgery. It sounds like there is a good chance that Marcano is done for the season. Right now, he's slashing .233/.276/.356 with three home runs and 18 RBI with five steals in 53 games. Fantasy managers who are rostering him in redraft formats can start looking for a replacement.
