Troy Tulowitzki Agrees With Yankees
6 years agoThe New York Yankees agreed with free-agent shortstop Troy Tulowitzki on an agreement for the league minimum on Tuesday, according to league sources. The Blue Jays will pay the remainder of his $20 million salary for 2019 after releasing him last month. Tulo missed all of 2018 after multiple surgeries on his heels and played in just 66 games in 2017 for Toronto. The 34-year-old is obviously an extreme injury risk at this point, but landing in the Bronx isn't the worst spot in the world. The Yanks could ask him to fill in at the 6 with Didi Gregorius (elbow) likely out for at least half of the year unless they sign free-agent shortstop Manny Machado. Even if Tulo opens the year as New York's starting shortstop, it's hard to recommend him to owners in mixed leagues.
