Troy Grosenick Has Dream Return To NHL
4 years agoLos Angeles Kings goaltender Troy Grosenick made his first NHL appearance in over six years on Wednesday, stopping 33 shots in a 5-1 victory over the Ducks. The 31-year-old was drafted in after Cal Petersen went into the COVID-19 protocol just a few hours before the game. With Jonathan Quick (upper body) also out, the Kings were out of options and called up Grosenick from the AHL. Grosenick's six years and 112 days between wins mark the seventh-longest period between regular-season victories in NHL history. He now has a 2-1-0 career record with a 1.35 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage. It's a great story, and Grosenick might get some more action, but Quick is labeled day-to-day and will return soon, while Petersen might not be missing for long either.
