Trio of Yankees Making Progress in Return to Game Action
7 years agoNew York Yankees MLB.com beat writer Bryan Hoch reports that first baseman Greg Bird (ankle), outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury and reliever Tommy Kahnle (shoulder) are all making progress in their efforts to return to New York from the disabled list. Bird, who is recovering from ankle surgery, has taken on-field batting practice and is sprinting, while Kahnle has resumed playing catch. Meanwhile, Ellsbury has begun hitting off a tee but has not yet resumed on-field activities. Bird and Kahnle are both expected to return to the Yankees by mid-May, while the timetable for Ellsbury's return remains unclear. Bird is one to stash in most formats because of his left-handed power, but Ellsbury should remain on the waiver wire in most leagues because of his uncertain timetable and likely limited playing time whenever he does return. Kahnle is not fantasy relevant at this time.
