Trey Wingenter Poaches First Career Save
6 years agoSan Diego Padres reliever Trey Wingenter recorded his first career save Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. With closer Kirby Yates unavailable, Wingenter was shaky with two walks but struck out two D-Backs to preserve the one-run victory. The 24-year-old fireballer has been a staple in the Friars bullpen, holding a 3.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and nine strikeouts in six frames this season, but save opportunities should remain infrequent.
