Trey Sweeney. He was traded from the New York Yankees to the Los Angeles Dodgers in December 2023 before heading to the Tigers as part of the Jack Flaherty trade. He settled in nicely with the Tigers, dominating Triple-A and spending the last month and a half with the big league team. The results don't jump off the page, but Sweeney slashed .267/.345/.450 in Triple-A with 15 home runs and 46 extra-base hits. He added 20 stolen bases while only being caught four times. Sweeney added four home runs and five doubles in 36 MLB games. Under the hood, things look quite good for Sweeney, who posted a 106 mph 90th percentile exit velocity, exhibiting a plus power potential. The average exit velocity was also quite strong at 91 mph. Sweeney was known for having a contact-oriented profile in college, but his 72 percent contact and 81 percent in-zone contact are closer to average. However, his 25 percent chase rate is quite strong, considering the higher in-zone swing rate.
