Trey McBride Not Worth A Week 1 Start
1 year agoAs one of the top tight ends taken in the 2022 draft by the Arizona Cardinals, Trey McBride's rookie season could've been better. Once he became the starter in Week 9 last year, he wasn't much of a fantasy option. McBride is looking to change that narrative, and with an upcoming matchup against the Washington Commanders, may have that chance. With both starting quarterback Kyler Murray (knee) ruled out and starting tight end Zach Ertz (knee) questionable for Week 1, there is real potential for McBride to make his mark. Arizona figures to be playing from behind with a rookie quarterback, Joshua Dobbs in this game, and Dobbs may use McBride as a checkdown early and often. Even so, given the current state of the Cardinal's offense and the fact that the Commanders were fourth-best against the pass last year, McBride is best left on the fantasy bench even if Ertz cannot suit up in Week 1.
