1 year agoFirst baseman/designated hitter Trey Mancini cleared waivers on Thursday and is now a free agent, according to MLB.com. The Chicago Cubs designated the 31-year-old for assignment on August 1 after slashing .234/.299/.336 with four homers, 31 runs, and 28 RBI over 79 games. Mancini hasn't been the same since his 2019 campaign, in which he posted a .899 OPS, as he owns just a .717 mark since. The seven-year veteran is likely irrelevant in all fantasy leagues for the remainder of 2023, even if he latches onto another team.--Spencer Seguin
