Trey Lance Undergoes Second Surgery On Friday
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance (ankle) underwent a second surgery on his right ankle, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. However, it was done to remove the "hardware" placed during his initial procedure and isn't expected to "affect his ability to prepare for the 2023 season." The 2021 No. 3 overall selection appeared in only two games in 2022-23, amassing 194 yards and an interception while completing a hideous 48.4% of his throws. He also totaled 67 yards off 16 carries. Unfortunately, his sophomore campaign ended abruptly after suffering a season-ending ankle injury in the Week 2 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. Nevertheless, Lance is anticipated to participate in OTAs. But there are too many unknowns between now and September to say for certain if he'll be ready for Week 1. The fate of Jimmy Garoppolo (foot), who is set for free agency, and the production of Brock Purdy, are all elements that could factor into Lance's future not only on the fantasy end but in the Bay Area as well.
