Trevor Story Scratched With Neck Stiffness
8 months agoBoston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story was scratched from Thursday's lineup versus the Atlanta Braves due to Neck Stiffness. MassLive.com reporter Chris Cotillo relayed that the ailment is nothing to worry about as the scratch was precautionary. The veteran returned from elbow surgery last season and limped to a .203 average with three home runs and a .566 OPS in 43 games, albeit with 10 stolen bases. That said, Red Sox hitting coach Peter Fatse spoke highly of Story who was afforded a fully healthy offseason, saying "he looks great" in February. Indeed, Story is a nice bounce-back candidate who should provide a quality combination of power and speed as ATC projects 18 home runs and 20 stolen bases from the 31-year-old in 2024. He shouldn't be considered a primary shortstop but rather an asset in leagues with middle-infield spots.
