Trevor Plouffe Ends Long Night In Philadelphia
6 years agoAfter 15 long innings at Citizens Bank Park, the Philadelphia Phillies finally emerged with a victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 16th. The decisive swing came off third baseman Trevor Plouffe’s bat after taking over for Maikel Franco. The 32-year-old journeyman ended the near-six hour game with a three-run blast off Kike Hernandez, the Dodgers’ position player who was beginning his first inning on the mound. This was Plouffe’s second hit since debuting for the Phillies earlier this month and he might not have a bigger one the rest of the way. The Phillies remain atop the NL East holding a one-game lead over the Atlanta Braves.
