Trevor May Works Another Clean Inning
4 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Trevor May threw a clean eighth inning in the Mets' 8-7 win over the Phillies on Sunday. Over his one inning of work, May recorded one strikeout and did not allow a base runner. May has now had nine straight appearances in which he has not allowed an earned run. He boasts a 1.93 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings pitched on the season. With Edwin Diaz (back) possibly facing some missed time or a stint on the injured list due to a back injury, May becomes a must-add in all formats. As the most effective pitcher in the Mets' bullpen so far in 2021, May would presumably handle the bulk of the closing duties if Diaz is forced to miss time.
