Trevor May In Agreement With The A's
2 years agoThe Oakland Athletics and right-hander Trevor May agreed to a one-year, $7 million deal on Friday, according to sources familiar with the deal. The 33-year-old reliever will receive a $1 million signing bonus and can make another $500,000 in performance bonuses. The 2022 season wasn't May's best, as he dealt with arm injuries and finished with a 5.04 ERA (3.87 FIP), a 1.44 WHIP, one save and a 27 percent strikeout rate in only 25 relief innings for the New York Mets. May has been solid as a high-leverage reliever the last five years (3.54 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 12 saves), and he could be the favorite for closing duties to begin the 2023 season in his new digs in Oakland.
