Trevor Gott Picks Up First Save Of The Season
1 year agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Trevor Gott picked up his first save of the season on Thursday when he pitched a scoreless inning in a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Gott tossed a scoreless ninth inning while giving up two hits, walking none and striking out one to record just his sixth save in eight years in the big leagues. Both Adam Ottavino and Brooks Raley were unavailable on Thursday due to recent heavy workloads, so Gott got the call and delivered for the Mets to close things out. The 30-year-old probably won't see any save chances the rest of the way, but he's been valuable in a late-inning role in New York and hasn't allowed a single run in his last 12 appearances out of the 'pen.
