Trevor Bauer Won't Opt Out Of His Contract
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer will not opt out of his historic contract. The right-hander has $64 million left over two more years, and a decision to opt out now would have resulted in lengthy deferrals. Bauer also has the option to opt out after the 2022 season, and he'd take a $15 million buyout rather than a $32 million salary for 2023. The 2020 National League Cy Young winner didn't pitch for LA after June 28 in the wake of sexual-assault allegations, and MLB continued to extend his paid administrative leave through the end of the season. It remains unclear if/when Bauer will return to an MLB mound, which obviously makes him a volatile fantasy asset in 2022 and beyond. At the very least, he could be facing a lengthy suspension next season after missing most of 2021.
