Trent Thornton Strikes Out Three Batters
4 years agoIn just his second game since returning from September elbow surgery to remove "loose bodies," Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Trent Thornton (elbow) held the New Yankees scoreless for three innings. The 27-year-old right-hander has now thrown five shutout innings with just three hits allowed and a K-BB of 7-1. His heater was ranging from 91-93 mph. His strikeouts came on sliders (twice) and a changeup. If Thornton can build up enough stamina to break camp with the Jays, he could provide some valuable depth to the pitching staff which recently lost Kirby Yates (elbow) for the year and Nate Pearson (groin) for an undetermined amount of time.
