Trent Taylor Appears to be Favorite for Slot Role
6 years agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Trent Taylor has been performing well since returning from a back injury that sidelined him during the early parts of training camp. The second-year receiver caught several passes from quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo on Monday, including a 15-yard touchdown. According to 49ers reporter Joe Fann, “Trent Taylor looks more like his old self each and every day.” Taylor has established some chemistry with his quarterback and should be considered the favorite to start in the slot position, despite a very crowded receiving corps in San Francisco. Taylor was productive in his rookie season, catching 43 passes for 430 yards and two touchdowns. Even though he is currently going undrafted in most drafts, Taylor has some sleeper appeal in deeper PPR formats.
