Trea Turner Picks Up Two Hits On Wednesday
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner had a successful day at the plate after going 2-for-5 in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the San Francisco Giants. He ripped a single in the first inning and picked up a knock to right fielder Michael Conforto in the eighth inning. Turner did strike out twice but had an encouraging day at the plate overall. He hasn't been hitting to the tune of a $300 million contract, and the Phillies were expecting Turner's bat to make a drastic improvement in the lineup. He is slashing .262/.308/.707 on the season along with just 10 RBI. His swinging choices have not been his usual hacks, which could be the root of his struggles. Turner posts a 26.3% strikeout rate, which is a notable leap from last season's 18.5% mark. The Phillies hope that Turner can right his ship at the plate as the season carries on.
