years agoLos Angeles Dodgers middle infielder Trea Turner (COVID-19) has been activated from the COVID-19 injured list and is available off the bench on Friday night, according to Juan Toribio of MLB.com. Turner was acquired by the Dodgers at the trade deadline, but has been out of action after testing positive for COVID-19 at the end of July. Over 96 games this season, Turner is slashing .322/.369/.521 with 18 home runs, 21 steals, 49 RBI and 66 runs scored. He should see a potential boost in value with the Dodgers, and reports earlier in the day on Friday say he will be taking over primarily at second base. He'll likely make his first start on Saturday, and managers should slot him back into their lineups.--Michael

months agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner continued to heat up at the plate in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Rays. Turner went 3-for-5 with a single, a pair of two-run home runs, and a strikeout. The 31-year-old launched a third-inning Taj Bradley fastball into the left-field seats and hit an eighth-inning Edwin Uceta offering into nearly the same spot in the seats. Turner's second-half stats are down compared to his first-half, but he has picked things up in September, slashing .297/.366/.595 with three HR in 37 at-bats. A Turner hot streak hitting at the top of a surging Phillies lineup is exactly what fantasy managers need as the season finishes up.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller

months agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is retreating to the bench for Wednesday's matchup at Citizens Bank Park against the visiting Miami Marlins. With Turner getting the day off, Edmundo Sosa is starting at the 6 and batting seventh for the Phils against Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera. This will be Turner's first day off since July 31, and it's a good time to give him a blow with the 31-year-old All-Star shortstop struggling offensively of late. Turner is always a must-start in fantasy when he's active, but he's gone 8-for-47 (.170) with two doubles, two RBI, one walk, a stolen base and seven strikeouts in 11 games to begin the month of August. Sosa will be a low-upside DFS sleeper at the bottom of the Phillies' batting order on Wednesday in a tough matchup. Sosa has six homers, 26 RBI and six steals in his 196 at-bats this year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

months agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner showed off his power/speed combination on Thursday, going 2-for-4 with a homer and a stolen base in a 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Turner added a walk, a run scored, and an RBI to round out a solid overall line. The 31-year-old five-category contributor has been on a bender in July, going 16-for-37 (.432) with 10 runs, six homers, 15 RBI, and two steals in nine games. After a rough 2023, Turner has returned to form as one of the best all-around players in fantasy. He should be viewed as a borderline first-round player again.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller

months agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 3-for-4 with a grand slam Tuesday night in a 10-1 walloping of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Phils were up 4-0 when before they loaded the bases for Turner who jumped on a Bobby Miller first-pitch slider and sent into the left-field bleachers. The speedy shortstop could have even done more damage potentially, but he was removed for pinch-hitter Whit Merrifield in the bottom of the 8th inning who got to face a position player on the mound, Kike Hernandez. There's not much else to say about the 31-year-old shortstop besides that he's enjoying his second season in the City of Brotherly love and has been one of the best hitters, if not the best, hitter in the game since he returned from the injured list back on June 17th.--Joey Inglese - RotoBaller
