Travis D'Arnaud DFA'd
6 years agoThe New York Mets announced Sunday morning that catcher Travis D'Arnaud has been designated for assignment, likely meaning he's played his last game in a Mets uniform. The 30-year-old has played each of his first seven seasons with the New York club, being the starting catcher on a NL Pennant-winning team in 2015. D'Arnaud has struggled to get in rhythm this season, batting just .087 in his return from Tommy John surgery. With Wilson Ramos the undisputed starting catcher, the club announced Tomas Nido would be promoted to serve as the new backup. With Triple-A Syracuse, the 25-year-old was batting .289 this year.
