Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug was having a great game on Friday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning but was forced to head to the locker room early after he took a spill into the boards. Krug was battling for positioning on the puck when he lost his footing and slid hard, feet first, into the end boards in Boston’s defensive zone. Krug did get up on his own accord and finish the play, but he moved gingerly to the bench and headed straight to the locker room thereafter. The 27-year-old had two power-play assists in the game before his departure, giving him 12 this postseason and a two-point lead on any other defenseman. If he were to miss time, it would be a huge blow to Boston’s back end. Keep an eye on this situation. Krug is a must-start if healthy.--Kevin Acorn

St. Louis Blues defenseman Torey Krug (ankle) has been ruled out for the 2024-25 NHL season. The team announced last month that Krug had been diagnosed with pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle and would try to rehabilitate the injury without surgery. However, in the end, Krug is forced to have surgery to get the issue fixed, and as a result, he will not be able to play in the upcoming campaign. The 33-year-old has endured a couple of rough seasons, amassing a minus-57 rating across the past two years. But he's had a solid career with the Blues and Boston Bruins, posting 483 points (89 points, 394 assists) in 778 outings. Newly acquired Philip Broberg could land an important role on the blue line with Krug on the shelf.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

St. Louis Blues defenseman Torey Krug made history in Sunday's 7-2 win over Montreal by setting new franchise records for points and assists in a game by a blue-liner. He had five helpers during the game, with two coming in power-play situations. Krug also set a new personal record with the five-point effort. The huge performance came out of the blue, as Krug had tallied only three points in his previous 14 appearances. 17 of his 25 points came in November and December, but Sunday could be a sign that Krug will heat up again.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

St. Louis Blues defenseman Torey Krug made his first preseason appearance Monday against Columbus and showed he's fully healed from a right foot injury suffered in training camp by logging a game-high 24:29 of ice time. His performance overall could've been better, though, as Krug finished a 5-3 loss with a minus-three rating. The 32-year-old saw 4:18 of action with the man advantage and notched one power-play assist. Krug was paired with Justin Faulk, who returned from a lower-body injury Monday. The two play a big role for St. Louis at the back and must stay healthy for the team to have a chance of being competitive.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

St. Louis Blues defenseman Torey Krug (foot) expects to be ready for his team's season opener on Oct. 12 against the Dallas Stars. The Blues had announced that Krug suffered a right foot injury on Sept. 13, only stating he would be reevaluated on Oct. 1. "I'll be ready", Krug said on Tuesday, music to the ears of Blues fans as the tight-lipped nature of the original announcement seemed to suggest it could be a long-term ailment. The 12-year veteran registered seven goals and 32 points across 63 games last season, his third with the Blues. Krug has notched at least 51 points on three separate occasions but an inability to stay healthy has hurt his fantasy stock in recent seasons.--Brenton Kemp
