Tony Gonsolin To Start Friday's Cactus League Game
38 seconds agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin (elbow) will start the team's second Cactus League game on Friday against the Chicago Cubs, with Nick Frasso starting on Saturday versus the Kansas City Royals. Gonsolin had Tommy John surgery in September of 2023, which caused him to miss the entire 2024 season with the Dodgers. The 30-year-old did make three minor-league rehab starts late last year and is ready to go for the start of the 2025 campaign. However, he's not a lock for a starting rotation spot and is competing with Dustin May, Bobby Miller, Landon Knack and Justin Wrobleski this spring. Gonsolin was an All-Star in 2022 and went 28-7 with a solid 3.36 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 266:109 K:BB in 289 innings over 59 outings (57 starts) from 2021-23, though, which could give him a leg up on a rotation spot.
