Tony Gonsolin Could Enter Rotation Upon Return From IL
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin could replace Dustin May in the starting rotation upon his activation from the injured list, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. Gonsolin has not appeared yet this year due to shoulder inflammation that landed him on the injured list on April 4. Morosi reports that the team is hopeful Gonsolin can be stretched out to handle a starting workload, and they will look at him as a possible replacement for May going forward. It will still be some time before that happens, as Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday that it will be three to four weeks before Gonsolin is ready. When he's healthy, Gonsolin is a solid option for managers to look at with a career 24.5 percent strikeout rate in 86 2/3 innings over his first two years in the majors.
