Tommy Pham Slowly Working Through Elbow Issues
5 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham (elbow) served as the designated hitter in Wednesday's 9-7 loss to the Kansas City Royals, going 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Pham, who is working his way back from a partial tear in his UCL, has yet to play the field in Spring Training. The 31-year old has thrown from 125 feet without setbacks and will be cleared to play the outfield when he reaches 200 feet. Thanks to his rehabilitation, Pham believes he is behind on getting his swing up to speed. "Right now my swing needs some work,” he said. “I’m not right. I’ve got to get caught up." With Opening Day two weeks away, owners should be growing concerned about Pham's health in the early part of the season. He will still be a good source of steals in the middle rounds but could struggle with his average if he is forced to work on his swing into the regular season.
