Tommy Kahnle Recommended For Tommy John Surgery
4 years agoNew York Yankees right-handed pitcher Tommy Kahnle is likely facing the end of his 2020 season after being placed on the injured list earlier in the day due to forearm tightness. Now, Kahnle has been recommended to have Tommy John surgery in order to repair a damaged right arm. Kahnle looked sharp in his lone appearance this season, striking out three batters Sunday against the Nationals. His absence led to right-hander Adam Ottavino working the eighth-inning in a tight game Friday, possible having claimed the setup role ahead of closer Aroldis Chapman. One of the highest-owned setup men in the game due to his elite 35.5 K% last year, Kahnle’s injury will likely sideline him for most -- if not all -- of the 2021 season as well, even in a best-case scenario.
