Tommy Edman Scratched From Rehab Game With "General Soreness"
4 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tommy Edman (wrist) was scratched from the lineup for Double-A Springfield on Wednesday due to "general soreness" after playing in his first minor-league rehab game on Tuesday. It's not really clear if this is an actual setback with his surgically repaired right wrist, or if it's just normal soreness after having not played in a game all year until Tuesday. Either way, the Cardinals are going to take things slow with the 29-year-old, and he's unlikely to join the Cardinals big-league roster for the start of the second half of the season after next week's All-Star break to make his 2024 debut. However, barring a real setback with his wrist, Edman figures to rejoin the Cardinals as their regular center fielder by the end of July.
