Tommy Edman Scores Three Times In Victory
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals second baseman Tommy Edman lived up to the task of the leadoff hitter by scoring three times in his club's 8-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday. He went 2-for-3 at the dish with a pair of run-scoring singles and a walk to up his slash line to .323/.425/.532 with three homers, 12 runs, 11 RBI, and four steals through 18 games. Edman began the season hitting in the bottom half of the Cards lineup, but has moved back up to the top of the lineup card due to a minor Dylan Carlson injury and with the strong play of his own. Manager Oliver Marmol suggested that Carlson will inevitably return to the leadoff spot despite his .203/.260/,275 line, but Edman has a lengthier track record as a leadoff man, so it's a situation to monitor moving forward for both of their 2022 fantasy outlooks.
