Tommy Edman Needs More Rehab Reps
4 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said that with the minor leagues shut down during this week's All-Star break, outfielder Tommy Edman (wrist) will need to continue his minor-league rehab assignment to begin the second half of the season. Mozeliak also said that the team wants to see Edman be able to play second base, shortstop and center field and get his timing down at the plate before they activate him from the 60-day injured list. In other words, the 29-year-old isn't exactly close to making his 2024 debut and may have to wait until early August for that. Fantasy managers that have been holding Edman all year have to be frustrated by the fact that he missed the entire first half of the season after having offseason wrist surgery. When he does eventually return, Edman will be worth rostering in all fantasy formats and should play regularly between while bouncing around as a super-utility player for the Cards.
