Tommy Edman Has Two Hits On Opening Day
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals infielder Tommy Edman collected a pair of hits over five at-bats and scored a run in Thursday's Opening Day 10-9 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays. It was an encouraging start to the season for the 27-year-old, but fantasy owners wouldn't have been too pleased with his spot in the batting order. Many pegged Edman as the leadoff hitter going into 2023 after slashing .265/.324/.400 with 13 home runs and 32 steals last season. But considering the former Gold Glover winner's splits from 2022 (.782 OPS against lefties, .704 OPS against righties), he may only hit from the one spot with a southpaw on the mound. Edman will still have plenty of chances to be at least a two-category contributor, though, in a great Cardinals lineup.
