Tomas Nido Placed On Injured List Wednesday
3 years agoNew York Mets catcher Tomas Nido (wrist) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday, with the move made retroactive to June 22, the team announced on Twitter. Nido exited Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader after being hit by a pitch, and early reports stated that he received a clean MRI on his wrist. It was believed that he would avoid a stint on the IL, but given the rash of recent injuries hitting the Mets, it seems they made the move to get a healthy bat on their bench. Nido is currently slashing .238/.297/.393 with three home runs, 12 runs scored and 11 RBI, and while he is out, Patrick Mazeika will be the primary backup to James McCann behind the plate.
