Tomas Nido Lands On Injured List With Sprained Thumb
3 years agoThe New York Mets placed catcher Tomas Nido (thumb) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. His 2021 season is now over. The team called up fellow catcher Patrick Mazeika from Triple-A to fill his roster spot. Mazeika will serve as a backup to starting catcher James McCann the rest of the way. Nido is dealing with a sprained left thumb. This is his third trip to the injured list due to the same injury. The 27-year-old appeared in a career-high 58 games this year and slashed .222/.261/.327 with three home runs, 13 RBI and 16 runs.
