After posting results of a missed cut, 54th, 67th, and T40 in his previous four starts, Tom Hoge turned things around nicely at The PLAYERS Championship with a T3 finish, gaining over 12.6 strokes on the field. He looks to carry this success into the Valero Texas Open, an event he has competed in six times, making the cut three times and finishing in the top 12 twice. In his successful trips to TPC San Antonio, Hoge has excelled from tee to green, an area he has struggled with this season. He currently ranks 104th in strokes gained from tee to green (minus-0.124 strokes gained per round) and 170th off the tee (minus-0.559). However, he compensates for these struggles off the tee with a strong approach game, ranking 14th in strokes gained on approach (0.715 per round) and in the 76th percentile for proximity from 200-plus yards, a range that accounted for 28.7% of all approach shots here last year. Although Hoge has struggled to find his form this year, his T3 finish in his last start should earn him consideration from fantasy managers at his $7,400 price tag on DraftKings.--Dakota Legg - RotoBaller

Tom Hoge did not seem to have the best of weeks, and yet he found his way into the top 15 at Augusta. Hoge simply weathered the storm and posted a solid weekend of 70-71 to finish T14. With the way Hilton Head is set up, this may not quite be the perfect course for the American golfer. His off-the-tee shortcomings will not be as much of an issue (168th in strokes gained). Hoge ranks 12th on approach in the same metric at 0.703. Even better, his birdie average ranks a respectable 40th at 4.14 and he's 48th on par-fours at 4.00. Few are suggesting that Hoge could contend, but no one should be surprised if he ends up near or around the top 20 by Sunday. His proximity ranks 13th and he's in the top 50 for approaches greater than 200 yards, which bodes well for DFS.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

While Tom Hoge has not won a tournament in 2025, he has enjoyed an excellent season. The American golfer has three Top 10 results and only one missed cut. Hoge nearly won The Players Championship but settled for T-3. At the Valero Texas Open, Hoge could not quite survive the chaotic Sunday, shot a 75, yet still ended up T-5. Hoge is the longest of long shots at +30000. Most expect him to not see the weekend, but he did finish T-39 in 2022. This is his third appearance at The Masters. There is expected to be little wind but the big question mark for Hoge will be off the tee. He ranks 171st in strokes gained at -0.513. If he can hit a little straighter, that will give him a few more birdie chances. Hoge could surprise a bit from a DFS standpoint at the least. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

Tom Hoge has played solidly so far in 2025 with only one missed cut in six events. The American golfer netted one Top 10 at The Sentry. However, Hoge watched everything go sideways at The Genesis Invitational. The 79 looked reminiscent of the 78 seen at Scottsdale the previous week. It is that worry which may be justified at PGA National in Florida. This course plays tough and Hoge has shown an ability to not limit damage so well. Even his scoring average of 70.18 is right around tour average. While no one expects a golfer to light the course up for birdies, Hoge will have to putt better (-0.207 strokes gained - 127th). Hoge needs the field to come back considerably to be even a DFS option. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

Tom Hoge missed the cut at last week's Waste Management Phoenix Open, marking his first missed cut of the year. He struggled with all areas of his game and will be looking to bounce back at this week's Genesis Invitational, which is being held at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California. Notably, Torrey Pines hosted the Farmers Insurance Open last month, where over 22% of approach shots were from over 200 yards. Over the past year, Hoge ranks in the 84th percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots taken from the fairway at this distance. Despite his poor performance last week, Hoge might go overlooked this week and could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups.--Ian Christenson - RotoBaller
