Todd Gurley Not On Load-Management Program
5 years agoLos Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that running back Todd Gurley isn't on a load-management program. "We're not doing anything like that," McVay said. "It's more along the lines of each week presents a different approach. It's kind of the feel the flow of the game," McVay said. Gurley had 14 carries for only 43 yards in the Week 3 win over the Browns on Sunday night. After three weeks, the All-Pro running back has 203 rushing yards and a touchdown while catching four passes for eight yards. Gurley had 255 rushing yards and four touchdowns and 11 catches for 121 yards and a score at this point in 2018. He averaged 22.5 touches per game last year and is averaging 16 touches in 2019, according to ESPN Stats and Information. McVay would like to get Gurley going, but the reality is backup Malcolm Brown continues to spell Gurley more often. The reduction of touches for Gurley this year has made him more volatile and put him on the RB1/2 borderline.
