Todd Gilliland Starts 23rd
2 years agoTodd Gilliland has not shown the most promise on superspeedways in the NextGen car, as his average finish is where he will start this race (23rd). His best finish last year was seventh at the fall race in Talladega last season. Over the other six races, including Daytona this season, he has finished 27th three times. His other finishes were 17th, 33rd and 22nd. Gilliland will look to improve on those finishes in this race and is someone that could be a part of your cash and GPP builds for your DFS lineups.

Todd Gilliland Has Mistake-Free Day At Martinsville, Grabs Another Top-10 Finish
1 week agoTodd Gilliland grabbed his second top-10 finish of the season on Sunday afternoon, coming home 10th at Martinsville Speedway after a mistake-free day in the 400-lap race. This is Gilliland's second top-10 result of the season (and third top 15) through the first seven races of the year, with the other being a 10th-place finish at COTA. His race at Martinsville ends a skid for the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team, as they had a rough couple of weeks at Las Vegas and Homestead, finishing 29th and 30th (respectively) in those two races. He currently sits in 22nd-place in the points standings as the Cup Series heads to Darlington next weekend. Gilliland could be in line for another good run there, as he has finished between 11th and 17th in four of his six career starts at "The Lady in Black."

Todd Gilliland Could Surprise At Martinsville
1 week agoTodd Gilliland could end up with a good finish in the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway this weekend. "The Paperclip" has been a pretty solid track for Gilliland over the last few years, as he has finished 13th or better in three of his six starts at this track--including a 10th-place finish in the fall 2023 race. As far as this weekend goes, Gilliland qualified in 25th-place for Sunday's race, and he was 13th-fastest in practice when it came to 10-lap average--although it's worth noting that the No. 34 Ford never actually made a long run during time trials, so it's hard to get a good read on the speed in the car. Still, Gilliland finished 17th at Phoenix earlier this season despite starting back in 27th. We could see a similar performance out of this No. 34 Ford this weekend. At just $5,600 on DraftKings, Gilliland is a pretty good low-dollar DFS option on Sunday with a strong record at this particular race track.

Todd Gilliland Has Steadily Improved At Homestead
2 weeks agoTodd Gilliland and his No. 34 Ford will roll off the starting grid from 29th place for this weekend's Straight Talk Wireless 400 after the Front Row Motorsports driver posted a time of 32.445 seconds in qualifying on Saturday afternoon. This is par for the course for Gilliland at Homestead-Miami, as he has started from 31st, 32nd, and 29th place in his three career Cup Series starts at the track thus far. Finish-wise, Gilliland has walked away with 20th-, 25th-, and 31st-place results, respectively. In practice this weekend, Gilliland ranked 26th-fastest on the single-lap speed chart and was 23rd-fastest when it came to 30-lap average. There's some upside for him this weekend, but you should definitely temper your expectations. A top-20 finish out of Gilliland would be considered a good day out of the No. 34 team on Sunday.

Todd Gilliland May Struggle At Las Vegas
3 weeks agoTodd Gilliland is always one of the most popular lower-tier drivers, but does he have the upside at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend to roll the dice with the No. 34 Ford again? You may have to temper your expectations. Gilliland has historically struggled at the 1.5-mile tracks, and Las Vegas is no exception. In six career starts at this track, Gilliland has yet to finish better than 23rd, and his driver rating at this track in the Next Gen era (39.7) is down with the likes of bottom feeders such as Cody Ware and BJ McLeod. Todd did wind up with a 14th-place finish at Kansas last season, which is the sister track of Las Vegas, but that was more of an anomaly than anything else. As far as DFS lineups go, though, you still need to have some Gilliland exposure this weekend. He qualified back in 32nd and is only priced at $5,900, so it won't take much for Todd to hit value on Sunday.
