Timothy Liljegren Departs After Awkward Fall Thursday
1 year agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren left Thursday's contest against the Boston Bruins in the second period after being upended into the end boards by Bruins forward Brad Marchand. He left the game with an apparent lower leg injury and has been ruled out for the remainder of the contest. The 24-year-old has seen an increased role on the Maple Leafs' blueline this season as his 19:23 average ice time per game is easily a career-high, shattering his previous career-best mark of 17:55 set just last season. However, he has yet to translate his increased ice time into offensive production with just one assist through nine games but he has chipped in a hefty 18 blocks on the season. Liljegren's status should be clearer at some point on Friday.
