Tigers To Give Starting Pitchers Extra Rest Going Forward
3 years agoOn Wednesday, Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch stated that none of the Tigers starters will work on regular rest for the remainder of the regular season, with Matt Manning as a possible exception. Hinch also said that a sixth starter might be added to the rotation as well, which certainly makes sense given the approach. The goal is to manage the load of the team's young starters. Casey Mize, who started on Tuesday, won't make his next start until Tuesday next week against the Los Angeles Angels. This is tough news for the fantasy value of Mize and Tarik Skubal primarily. No other Tigers starting pitchers are worth rostering in redraft leagues for now and Mize and Skubal are fringe players for AL-only leagues and deep leagues given this news.
